East Atlanta Residence

Whole-House Renovation | Built | 2021

Abandoned and in poor condition, this East Atlanta bungalow was taken down to the studs and rebuilt for resale. Potts Lang Architects worked closely with the owner, who served as his own general contractor, throughout the project.

The front of the house remains architecturally unchanged, keeping the original roofline and preserving the scale and character of the street. The new work is concentrated at the rear, where the attic was built out with dormers into a full second story holding two bedrooms, a bath, and a bonus room.

The result is a four-bedroom, three-bath home that still reads from the street as the bungalow the neighborhood has always known.
